Our one-day Autism and Learning Disabilities training is tailored for registered nurses, support workers, and healthcare assistants. We offer this training to our care and nursing teams, as well as to external individuals and healthcare services across the UK.

This course focuses on enhancing the communication skills of those who support autistic people, individuals with learning disabilities, and those with a combination of neurodivergent needs.

Participants will learn effective communication techniques to meet the needs of the people in their care, ensuring they can live happily and safely. You’ll discover how to support people in ways that build connections, promote inclusion and lead to meaningful interactions.

By the end of this course, participants will be equipped with best practices and strategies for providing compassionate and effective support to autistic people and those with learning disabilities in both community and care settings.

Over 3.5 hours, you will gain in-depth theoretical knowledge and engage in practical, hands-on competency assessments. This includes practice scenarios that allow participants to implement inclusive communication strategies effectively.

Our expert trainers kick off the session with a comprehensive overview of autism as a spectrum condition, discussing its characteristics and the unique strengths and support needs of autistic individuals.

Learn about Pervasive Developmental Disorder (PDD) and its relationship to autism, focusing on how it impacts communication and social interactions.

Discover best practices for providing tailored support to autistic people, including strategies for effective communication and establishing positive relationships.

Understand Asperger’s Syndrome as part of the autism spectrum, focusing on its characteristics and the importance of personalised support.

Learning Disabilities Awareness:

Where can we provide training?

We conduct training sessions in Kent, Essex, Hampshire, East Sussex, and West Sussex.

Each location accommodates up to 10-12 delegates. For larger groups, we offer flexible options, such as providing multiple trainers on the same day or scheduling additional training days.

We also offer on-site training at healthcare providers’ premises. If your facility has a suitable training space, we can bring our expertise directly to you.
