Ligature rescue training overview
Superior Healthcare’s hands-on ligature rescue training equips learners to identify potential ligature points and implement control measures to support those at risk. This course gives care professionals the skills and confidence to act effectively in critical situations.
All first aid practices are matched to the European Resuscitation Council guidelines.
By the end of the course, participants will feel confident in their ability to support children, young people, and adults at risk of suicide or self-harm, including those using ligatures.

For employees, this section reviews Superior Healthcare’s existing policies, processes, and procedures on the use of cutters, ensuring carers and nurses understand compliance and best practices.
For external providers, the section involves a detailed review of their own policies, processes, and procedures.
Types of ligatures and ligature points
Learn to identify different types of ligatures and potential ligature points in various settings, enabling care professionals to proactively and correctly address risks.
Signs and symptoms of ligature injuries

The contributory factors of self-harm and suicide and the importance of scene preservation
In this module, participants will explore the contributory factors that lead to self-harm and suicide. Additionally, we will discuss the importance of scene preservation to ensure evidence is maintained, allowing emergency services to investigate effectively.
First Aid actions following strangulation
Discuss First Aid actions to take following strangulation or attempted strangulation, preparing participants to respond effectively in critical situations.
Course Assessment and Certification
Complete a course assessment to demonstrate knowledge and skills gained, followed by certification to validate expertise in ligature rescue.
