This half-day moving and positioning people training is designed for registered nurses, support workers, and healthcare assistants. We deliver training to our care and nursing team, external individuals and healthcare services across the UK.
The course aims to reduce the risk of injury for both team members and clients during moving and handling tasks. Participants will learn the key principles of safe moving and positioning, and how to conduct risk assessments before any activity.
Learners will participate in hands-on practice sessions. These sessions replicate real-life scenarios encountered in the community. Ensuring care professionals feel confident and prepared to perform moving and handling tasks safely, effectively and in a person-centred manner.
This programme equips care professionals with the skills to provide safe and effective moving and positioning support for people in the community. The course covers essential principles of safe moving and handling techniques, risk assessment, and the importance of person-centred care.

Course Overview:
Understand the key legislation, including the Health and Safety at Work Act, Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER), Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER), and Manual Handling Operations Regulations (1992).

Making correct and safe decisions when supporting people is key. Our educators teach how to identify and avoid potentially dangerous moving and positioning techniques.
Learn techniques for safely moving clients from a seated position to standing and transferring them between chairs.
Master the safe and effective use of slide sheets to assist in repositioning individuals with reduced mobility, minimising discomfort and reducing the risk of injury to the client, care professional, and colleagues.
Gain practical experience in correctly inserting slings for safe transfers while clients are in bed or seated in a wheelchair.
Master the technique of using hoists when transferring clients from bed to chair. This module will ensure participants can perform transfers safely and with minimal discomfort for the person.
At the end of the session, all care professionals participate in a skills assessment to evaluate their understanding of moving and positioning techniques.
During the assessment, trainers will correct any errors and demonstrate the proper techniques, allowing participants to practice until they consistently apply them correctly.
This hands-on evaluation reinforces learning and ensures confidence and correctness.
Moving and positioning people training is designed for registered nurses, senior carers, healthcare assistants, and support workers.
We deliver training to social service providers, schools, nursing homes, private hospitals, residential homes, and hospices. Additionally, our care and nursing teams receive this training when they join and as part of their annual refreshers.
Participants will gain the confidence and expertise to safely support clients with mobility needs while prioritising their safety, comfort and well-being.
All our training is CPD-accredited and can be used towards nurse revalidation requirements.
We conduct training in Kent, Essex, Hampshire, East Sussex, and West Sussex.
Each location accommodates up to 10-12 delegates. For larger groups, we offer flexible options, such as providing multiple trainers on the same day or scheduling additional training days.
We also offer on-site training at healthcare providers’ premises. If your facility has a suitable training space, we can bring our expertise directly to you.
