This course offers a comprehensive understanding of epilepsy, covering various types of seizures, their causes and triggers, and effective seizure management. You will gain practical skills in administering rescue medications, such as Buccal Midazolam, Rectal Diazepam and Rectal Paraldehyde, through scenario-based training that builds your confidence.

Additionally, the training emphasizes supporting the emotional well-being of individuals with epilepsy. We focus on equipping you with the skills needed to provide high-quality care that improves the lives of children, young people, and adults living with epilepsy

Our clinical educators will begin the training with a detailed introduction to identifying the symptoms of epilepsy.

You will learn how to understand different types of seizures and accurately recognize seizure activity across all age groups.

Understand how epilepsy is diagnosed and explore the latest treatment options available to manage epilepsy effectively.

Discover the common triggers of epilepsy and learn strategies to minimise seizure risks in everyday settings.

This section covers various anti-epileptic medications, as well as treatments like vagal nerve stimulation and the ketogenic diet that help control epilepsy.

To handle and administer medication safely and correctly, we recommend completing our medication management training.

Learn how to manage the risk of Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy (SUDEP). We teach practical strategies for identifying risk factors and implementing preventive measures to enhance safety and reduce the risk for individuals living with epilepsy.

Where can we provide training?

We conduct training sessions in Kent, Essex, Hampshire, East Sussex, and West Sussex.

Each location accommodates a maximum of 10-12 delegates. For larger groups, we can provide multiple trainers on the same day or organise additional training days.

Additionally, we often offer on-site training at healthcare providers’ premises. If your service can provide a suitable training space, we are ready to bring our expertise to you!
