Our Story, Your Care
Our commitment to quality care stems from the personal experience of our CEO, Stewart Thorp. Alex, Stewarts younger brother sustained a traumatic brain injury at age 11.
Upon returning home from the hospital, Stewart and his family struggled to find Alex a care provider with clinical expertise that could integrate into their family life.
This experience highlighted the vital need for a specialist nurse-led care provider. Superior Healthcare was formed to address this need.

Types of Care Provided Across Surrey
Being established in Surrey benefits children, young people, and adults with complex clinical needs. Superior Healthcare is a pillar of support for people with complex health needs, assisting those living with a range of conditions, including:
Watch Dee's Story
After a spinal operation in 2019 left her paralysed from the neck down, Deirdre faced the challenge of adapting to a new way of life.
Determined to remain positive and independent, she sought a care arrangement that could meet her clinical needs while enabling her to live a full and happy life at home.
Watch Jake's Story
Jake contracted pneumococcal meningitis at 6 weeks old, leading to a diagnosis of cerebral palsy. While he understands everything cognitively, he requires full support with mobility, feeding, and daily activities.
His family wanted to ensure he could live a fulfilling, happy life with the right care in place, while also giving them the freedom to live as a family.
What Quality At-Home Care Means
Listen directly to some of the people we provide care for, as they, and their families, explain what Superior Healthcare means to them.
We are grateful for our clients all across Essex and the South: this is why we do what we do!
What makes us different?
We strongly encourage that anyone looking for complex care in Essex visits the care provider, in-person, and sees their place of work before making a decision.
Doing things properly from start to finish is the foundation for providing quality care. Building a culture of support amongst all colleagues means that everyone involved is truly passionate about providing the best care experience possible, for both the person receiving care and their family.
Client-specific training
Our care and nursing team are trained to provide person-centered care.
Nurse Managers identify client-specific training requirements during the care needs assessment and work with our team of in-house clinical educators to deliver client-specific training.
Rehabilitation
We work to achieve successful rehabilitation outcomes when possible.
We take pride in knowing that the quality of our service has led to a reduction of care required by our clients. For example, when we can complete an independent living trial for a client with a brain injury.
Working together
Family involvement lies at the core of our approach. Our nurse managers are committed to ensuring our clients’ families receive robust support that works for everyone.
We work closely with the multidisciplinary teams, therapy providers, and community support services involved in providing a clients care.
Surrey Specialist Care
We have extensive experience working with NHS Surrey Heartlands Integrated Care Board and NHS Frimley Integrated Care Board, supporting individuals funded through NHS Continuing Healthcare (CHC), joint health and social care packages, and privately arranged complex care.
Our teams work closely with Surrey County Council, as well as Guildford Borough Council, Woking Borough Council, and Elmbridge Borough Council, coordinating with adult social care teams, brokerage services, and hospital discharge planners to provide safe, responsive care in the community.
We regularly collaborate with clinicians and discharge teams from Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust and Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, ensuring smooth transitions from acute or community hospital services to home-based complex care.
This local, multi-agency approach supports safe discharge and ongoing complex care for individuals leaving St Peter’s Hospital (Chertsey), Royal Surrey County Hospital (Guildford), Frimley Park Hospital, Epsom Hospital, and Tandridge Hospital (Oxted).
