The Safer People Handling training course focuses on minimising the risk of injury to both team members and clients/service users during manual handling activities.

What You’ll Learn in Safer People Handling (Group Booking)

The Safer People Handling course emphasises the principles of safe moving and assisting, and the critical role of risk assessment in promoting a safe working environment.

Through practical demonstrations and discussion, participants will learn how to apply best practices in real-world care settings.

By the end of this training course, you'll be able to:

Understand their role and their employer’s duties in safe moving and handling
Explain how the spine works and why back care matters
Use T.I.L.E.E.O. to assess risks before moving someone
Spot hazards and take action to reduce them
Understand R.I.D.D.O.R. and when to report an incident
Choose and use the correct moving and handling equipment with confidence
Recognise unsafe moves and know how to avoid them
Show their practical skills in a short ability test
Support someone to stand or transfer safely between chairs
Place slings safely while someone is in bed or in a wheelchair
Use a hoist correctly for a bed-to-chair transfer
Be aware of key health and safety laws, including the Health and Safety at Work Act, PUWER, and LOLER
