Giving People Confidence Through Training: with Peter Burleigh-Harvey

At Superior Healthcare, training is at the heart of what we do.

  • In-person, classroom-based training, done properly
  • Expert trainers that make the classes fun and engaging
  • Held in our offices as part of our commitment to being established throughout Essex, Kent, Surrey, Sussex and Hampshire

Our Training

We offer free, CPD-accredited training for our own team. This gives our carers and nurses the skills, confidence, and knowledge they need to deliver safe, high-quality care every day.

We also share our training more widely. Individuals and care organisations can access our ready-made training packages to build strong, capable teams and maintain high standards across their services.

One of the people who brings this to life is Peter Burleigh-Harvey.

Peter is a popular trainer known for making sessions fun, practical, and creative. His approach keeps people engaged, helps them remember what they learn, and gives them confidence to put it into practice.

In this short Q&A, Peter talks about his approach to training, why it works, and how it benefits colleagues, clients, and families.

1. What inspired you to become a Clinical Educator at Superior?

Throughout my working life I have always had a passion for training and education. I joined Superior healthcare as an agency nurse and when I saw the job advertised I knew that I wanted to become part of the training team instantly.

2. What areas or skills do you most often train colleagues on?

Since joining the Clinical education team I have had the pleasure of teaching all of our current training package offerings as well as writing and collaborating on new training packages.

I have recently written our workplace first aid training package and am currently focusing on our end of life care offering.

3. How does your work as a Clinical Educator make a difference to patients or the wider team?

When delivering training I like to create a warm and safe environment that supports the learners to learn in the most effective way.

From the minute that they enter the classroom it is important to me that they know I am here to answer any questions that they have and that my role is to educate and support them allowing them to feel confident and thrive as they care for our clients. I believe that by creating a safe space it allows learners to open up and share experiences with the other learners in the room.

4. What’s the most rewarding part of supporting and developing others in their clinical practice?

My favourite part of the job is knowing that however nervous a learner is when they enter the classroom, when they leave they feel more confident in their ability and feel that they are part of the Superior healthcare family and support network.

5. What’s one piece of advice you always give to learners during training?

The only silly question is the one that you don’t ask!

6. If you had to sum up your role in three words, what would they be?

Quality, Passion & knowledge
